Old Crow, Ma'heonevo'homoxeestooewhich , Chief (Crow Chief)

 Person

Chief Old Crow - "Old Crow" was a prominent leader of the Cheyenne tribe in the late 19th century. His Cheyenne name was "Ma'heonevo'homoxeestooe," which means "Crow Chief" or "Old Crow." He was also known as "Roman Nose" by non-Indigenous people due to his large, prominent nose.

Old Crow was a skilled warrior and led the Cheyenne in several battles against white settlers and the U.S. Army, including the famous Battle of Little Bighorn in 1876. He was known for his courage and tactical abilities, and his leadership helped the Cheyenne maintain their way of life and resist assimilation.

After the defeat of the Cheyenne at the Battle of Summit Springs in 1869, Old Crow was captured and imprisoned for several years before being released. He continued to lead his people and advocate for their rights until his death in 1867, reportedly from pneumonia. His legacy as a leader and defender of the Cheyenne people is still remembered and celebrated today.
