"Getting the message - A petition bearing 10,000 signatures and asking legislative support for anti-communism, defense and sound economic measures is examined in Washington by Senator Mike Monroney, Congressman John Jarman of the 5th District, and Senator Robert S. Kerr. The petition, a project of District 19 Kiwanis Clubs in Oklahoma, was presented to the lawmakers by Dr. J. D. McCalmon, far left, Oklahoma City dentist who originated the idea. Dr. Dalton McInnis of Oklahoma City, second from left, flew Dr. McCalmon to Washington for the presentation. Washington, D.C. July 18, 1961.
