The text describes a legal dispute between the Kansas-Delaware Indians and the U.S. government. The supreme court ruled that the Kansas-Delawares were not entitled to land in the award from the Indian Claims Commission, but the Kansas-Delawares chose to leave the tribe and receive land in Kansas instead of moving to Oklahoma. Congress limited distribution of the award to Oklahoma Delawares and Absentee- Delaware tribes and their members, but the Kansas Delawares have asked and begun lobbying Congress to hold up payment. The author urges the recipient of the letter (presumably a politician) to resist any amendment or alteration of the 1972 Delaware Distribution Act.
