Osage Legislation: What Passed and What Didn't

A man called Matthew Kane Sr. read in the newspaper that the Osage legislation had passed. He wanted to know what exactly had passed, and called John to ask about it. John explained that the tax bill had not been included, but that there would be some change in the tax status because of the change in blood requirements. He also asked about Section 9, which prohibits persons of non-Osage blood from receiving more than a lifetime interest in Osage mineral rights. John told him that this had passed, and the rationale the Osage tribe put forth on this. Matthew Kane Sr. seemed resolved to this and only asked that John send him a copy of the bill and a Committee Report if one was available.
