The American Indian Policy Review Commission: A High Level Study Of Federal-Tribal Relationships, 1976-12-28 - 1978-06-12

 Item — Box: 38, Folder: 15
Identifier: CAC_CC_109_5_38_15_0009
In the article revealing attorney general griffin b. Bells concern for reviewing united states/American Indian problems, it is mentioned that he hopes a high level policy study will commence soon. It is then brought to the attorney generals attention that the final report of the American Indian policy review commission was submitted to congress in may 1977 - which was a comprehensive study of all federal American Indian relationships, including the trust responsibility (as explained in task force no. 1S report, published by the united states government printing office in 1976). The letter then urges the attorney generals office to view this responsibility as one which is honest and shows the integrity of the united states by assuring the continuation of the solemn vows agreed upon in the many treaties negotiated by both native Americans and Americans.
