The oklahoma human rights commission has urged the us representative for oklahoma, james r. Jones, to take steps to ensure the continued existence of the concho indian school. The commission is concerned about the lack of input afforded to oklahoma tribal members in the decision-making process of the bureau of indian affairs, the potential cost-cutting benefits of consolidating boarding schools in the state, and the abrupt and disruptive transfer of elementary school children from concho to the riverside indian school.
