Title: Urgent Appeal for Support in Protecting Delaware Tribal Recognition

 Item — Box: 59, Folder: 14
Identifier: CAC_CC_109_7_59_14_0011
The letter is from a member of the Delaware Tribe of Indians to their representative, James R. Jones. The author requests that Jones vote against House Bill No. 3866, which would give Delaware Tribal money to non-Delaware people. The author also expresses concern that despite a 1977 Supreme Court decision recognizing the Delaware Tribe as a federally recognized tribe, the Bureau of Indian Affairs is now saying otherwise. The author asks for Joness cooperation in voting for a Delaware Tribal recognition bill and requests that a member of his staff conduct a preliminary study of the Delaware Tribe.
