Urgent Request to Vote Against House Bill No. 3866 and Support Delaware Tribal Recognition

 Item — Box: 59, Folder: 14
Identifier: CAC_CC_109_7_59_14_0015
The author, David V. Dopp, is a member of the Delaware Tribe of Indians and is writing to James R. Jones, a representative in the House of Representatives. Dopp is requesting that Jones vote against a bill that would give Delaware Tribal money to non-Delaware people. Dopp also mentions a Supreme Court decision and B.I.A. acknowledgements that recognize the Delaware Tribe as a federally recognized tribe, but states that the Bureau is now saying otherwise. Dopp asks for Jones cooperation in voting for a Delaware Tribal recognition bill and suggests that a member of Jones staff conduct a preliminary study of the Delaware Tribe. Dopp concludes by expressing his trust that Jones will fulfill these requests.
