 Series
Identifier: CAC_PP_065_4
This collection is comprised of a wide range of political ephemera, including buttons, pins, bumper stickers, playing cards, party delegate pins, and hats. These items date from 1896 to 2008, with the bulk of the ephemera dating from 1950 to 1980. Pins and buttons are the strength of the collection. They come from a variety of political campaigns, such as Eisenhower’s 1952 run for president and the1960 presidential contest that pitted John F. Kennedy against Richard Nixon. Materials created for Oklahoma politicians such as Mike Monroney, Dewey Bartlett, Bob Kerr, and Fred Harris also appear in the collection. The oldest buttons in the collection come from the failed 1896 attempt to create the State of Sequoyah and Oklahoma’s first governor’s inauguration in 1907.
