A National Commission on the Financing of Postsecondary Education was established in 1972 to study the funding of postsecondary education. The Commission has met regularly and has appointed committees to conduct research and analysis. The Commission is aiming to provide recommendations to the President and Congress by December 31, 1973. The Commission is considering various aspects of postsecondary education funding, including objectives, funding sources, student assistance programs, and potential federal, state, and private participation. The Commission is also analyzing existing funding programs and alternative proposals. The final report will include findings and recommendations for improving the financial support for postsecondary education.
