Letter to Carl Albert to Request for Force Account Method of Road Construction by Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma
The Kiowa Business Committee has requested the Bureau of Indian Affairs to initiate the Force Account method of road construction to provide employment and training for Indian people in the Anadarko Area. They believe this method will benefit more Indian families than contracting, and have submitted a resolution to stop contracting road projects in the area. They are seeking the support of Speaker Carl Albert in implementing this change. Additionally, the Kiowa, Comanche, and Apache Tribes are actively pursuing the restoration of lands held by the Bureau of Indian Affairs to alleviate unemployment and underemployment conditions within their communities.
