Analysis of Distribution of Funds to Sac and Fox Tribes: H.R. 4016

H.R. 4016 provides for the distribution of funds appropriated to pay judgments to Sac and Fox Indians in specific Indian Claims Commission dockets. The funds are to be divided among different Sac and Fox tribes based on enrollment criteria. The Act also outlines how the funds can be utilized by tribal governing bodies, and provides for the protection of funds for minors or disabled individuals. Additionally, the Act exempts distributed funds from federal and state income taxes and does not affect eligibility for Social Security Act assistance. The Secretary of the Interior is authorized to create rules and regulations regarding the distribution of funds.
