The text contains a letter from Congressman Carl Albert to Raymond Gary, in which Albert expresses his interest in appointing Overton James as Governor of the Chickasaw tribe. Gary has recommended James for the position, and Albert says he will forward Gary's recommendation to the Commissioner of Indian Affairs. It is Albert's understanding that the Secretary of the Interior will make the final decision on the appointment, taking into consideration recommendations from various sources including tribal members and members of the Oklahoma Congressional delegation.
