The Bureau of Indian Affairs has announced that Overton James will be appointed to serve a two-year term as Governor of the Chickasaw Nation, starting with the expiration of the late Floyd Maytubby's term on October 18, 1963. This appointment comes as a result of recommendations and endorsements from the Choctaw-Chickasaw Confederation, of which Mr. James is a member.
