The text contains a letter from Congressman Carl Albert to JD Levin's, in which he discusses the appointment of Overton James to the position of Governor of the Chickasaw Nation. He notes that he has received a recommendation from Harry J.W Belvin, Principal Chief of the Choctaws, and that he has contacted the Commissioner of Indian Affairs to discuss the matter. It is his understanding that the Secretary of the Interior will make the final decision on the appointment, but that he has urged that every consideration be given to James' application.
