The Creek Nation is proposing a cooperative community hospital project with the County of Okfuskee, State of Oklahoma. The hospital would be operated by the Creek Nation to serve Indian and non-Indian residents. The tribe has been assured a $1.1 million operating budget for the hospital. The Creeks are believed to be the first Indian tribe in America to attempt a tribal operation of this kind.
