The Caravan Trail of Broken Treaties: A Serious Event for Indian People, 1972-11-06
Item — Box: 67, Folder: 6
Identifier: CAC_CC_009_2_67_6_0006
The Yakima Tribal Council is critical of the Bureau of Indian Affairs' response to the Trail of Broken Treaties caravan, accusing the BIA of catering to self-styled Indian leaders instead of reservation Indians. The Council argues that this is just as bad as the government telling Indians what's good for them, and that it could lead to the same situation as in 1970, when priorities were shifted away from reservations.
