H.R. 7421: A Bill to Repeal the Termination Act of 1954
The proposed H.R. 7421 would repeal the Termination Act of 1954 and restore Federal recognition to the Menominee tribe, making them eligible for Federal assistance programs. Additionally, it would provide for the transfer of assets and resources to the tribe, including land to be held in trust, with the goal of restoring their economic and social viability. Lastly, it would provide for the recreation of tribal government and local control of tribal affairs.
