 Item — Box: 67, Folder: 8
Identifier: CAC_CC_009_2_67_8_0005
The proposed amendment would extend federal recognition to the Menominee Tribe and repeal the termination act that caused the tribe to lose its rights and privileges. The amendment would also protect existing rights and privileges of the tribe and its members, and authorize grants to the tribe for services normally provided by the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Indian Health Service. Finally, the amendment would provide for the election of the Menominee Restoration Committee and the drafting of a new constitution and bylaws for the tribe.
