The National Trust owns six historic houses in the Washington area, three of which are open to the public. These houses are Decatur House, the Woodrow Wilson House, and Woodlawn Plantation. The Trust is a national private organization chartered by Congress to preserve historic sites, buildings, and objects significant in American history and culture.
