 Item — Box: 285, Folder: 23
Identifier: CAC_CC_026_3_285_23_0047
In the wake of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination, Jean Graham of the League of Women Voters writes to fellow task force member Mrs. Bruce B. Benson of the Democratic Party of Colorado to suggest they take advantage of the public's concern and draft legislation to address the issues of poverty and housing disparity that King fought against. She encloses a petition that circulated successfully in the wake of King's death, and suggests that similar legislation could have a real impact on the lives of those affected by poverty and discrimination.
