The Community Self-Determination Act
The Community Self-Determination Act is a bill that would create a new system of Community Development Corporations (CDC) in order to help lower-income communities. These CDCs would be owned and operated by the residents of the community, and would offer a variety of services including business development, social services, and management training. The bill has been sponsored by several Republicans and Democrats in the Senate and House of Representatives, and has been endorsed by the Congress on Racial Equality.
