Bruce Olsen wrote to Congressman James R. Jones to express his support for legislation to increase allowance benefits for veterans in college and extend their entitlement period. Congressman Jones acknowledged receipt of the letter and shared Olsen's concerns. He mentioned a bill introduced by Senator Hartke addressing the financial problems of student veterans, which is pending in the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs. Jones assured Olsen that he would keep his views in mind when the bill reaches the House floor. Olsen also urged Jones to support increasing Veterans educational allowances and extending the limitation period for completing education. Olsen indicated that he would reconsider his request if there were overriding reasons for not supporting the increases.
