Federal Payments and Indian Reservation Roads: Correspondence with Mr. Osby Williams, January 10, 1964

The letter from Mr. Osby Williams to Congressman Carl Albert inquires about possible Federal payments to the Choctaw Indians and the building and improving of Indian reservation roads. Congressman Albert responds by stating that there will likely be no payment to the Choctaw Indians this year due to the termination of trusteeship over Choctaw lands. He also explains that the funds for Indian road projects come from the U.S. Treasury through general taxation and are not related to the sale of Indian lands. Congressman Albert assures Mr. Williams that he is happy to assist with any further questions he may have.
