The letter from Hon. Sam Allen to Carl Albert addresses the delay in the $8,500,000 payment for the sale of Chickasaw-Choctaw coal and asphalt lands to the Government. The appropriation for the sale is included in a deficiency bill that has passed both the House and the Senate but is held up in a conference due to differences between the Senate and House versions of the bill. Albert assures Allen that he is working to resolve the differences and will update him once the bill is passed. Allen expresses the urgency of the situation as the Indian community is eagerly awaiting their payment.
