The letter from W.W. Keeler, Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation, to the Bureau of Indian Affairs requests that they assume responsibility for significant decisions regarding himself and another individual to avoid any perception of misuse of authority. Keeler wants the Bureau to scrutinize federal government programs to avoid criticism and ensure decisions are in the best interest of the Tribe. He also requests supervision for day-to-day decisions and plans to meet with the Bureau to discuss recommendations before the election.
