50 CFR 22 outlines regulations for obtaining permits to take, possess, or transport bald and golden eagles for scientific, exhibition, religious, and depredation control purposes. The permits require a complete explanation and justification of the request, nature of the project, and other relevant information. The regulations also prohibit selling, purchasing, or trading eagles or their parts, nests, or eggs without a permit. The Director must determine that the permit is compatible with the preservation of the eagle populations before issuing it. The regulations also cover application procedures, definitions, and additional permit conditions.
