The letter is in response to a request for information about payment to members of the Choctaw and Chickasaw Nations for the sale of their coal lands to the government. It states that intermarried white citizens who paid their license fee to the Nations are eligible for per capita payment. The payments will be sent out by the Superintendent of the Five Civilized Tribes Agency in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and it will take about sixty days to complete. The recipient, Mr. Middleton, is advised that he will receive a per capita payment as a member of the Choctaw Nation. The letter also includes a response from Mr. Charles P. Middleton confirming his enrollment and requesting advice on the payment process.
