The letter is a response from Carl Albert to Mr. William Lewis regarding the settlement payment for the coal lands of the Choctaws and Chickasaws. Albert explains that the per capita payment will be mailed out by the Indian Office and each member is expected to receive over $300. Albert expresses appreciation for Lewis' offer of help in his next election and states that he may call on him. Albert also offers his assistance to Lewis if needed.
