Payment for Coal Lands: A Letter from Congressman Carl Albert, 1949-06-08

 Item — Box: 6, Folder: 69
Identifier: CAC_CC_001_4_6_69_0002
Mrs. Aikman is inquiring about payment to the Choctaws and Chickasaws for the sale of their coal lands to the government. She is informed that living enrolled members will be paid first, with checks expected to be mailed out in July. Deceased members' shares will be distributed to their heirs, after proof of heirship forms are completed and returned. It is advised that Mrs. Aikman provide her current address to avoid delays in receiving her check. The payment is not subject to tax. Mrs. Aikman asks for more information on the payment process.
