 Item — Box: 6, Folder: 69
Identifier: CAC_CC_001_4_6_69_0014
Mrs. Eliza Casey wrote to Carl Albert inquiring about payment to the Choctaw and Chickasaw Indians for coal lands they sold to the government. Carl Albert responded that payments will be made to living members within the next sixty days, with a per capita share of around $300. Payments to deceased members' heirs will be made after the living members are paid, with the exact amount each heir receives depending on the number of heirs. Proof of heirship notices will be sent out for completion. Payments will be made in a lump sum, and checks will be sent out by the Superintendent of the Five Civilized Tribes Agency in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
