Concerns Over Per Capita Payment for Choctaw-Chickasaw Tribes, 1949-06-16

 Item — Box: 6, Folder: 71
Identifier: CAC_CC_001_4_6_71_0001
Rev. Allen Gilmore wrote to Congressman Carl Albert inquiring about payment to Choctaw and Chickasaw Indians for coal lands sold to the government. The Indian Office advised that living enrolled members will be paid first, with checks expected to be mailed out in July. Deceased members' shares will be paid to their heirs, with proof of heirship notices to be sent out for completion. Congressman Albert assured Rev. Gilmore that being listed on the Indian roll is all that is necessary to receive the per capita payment.
