Inquiry Regarding Payment for Coal Lands by Choctaw and Chickasaw Nations, 1949-06-15

 Item — Box: 6, Folder: 71
Identifier: CAC_CC_001_4_6_71_0006
Mrs. Sparks received a letter from Carl Albert, a Member of Congress, regarding the payment to the Choctaws and Chickasaws for the sale of their coal lands to the government. The letter states that living enrolled members will be paid first, with checks expected to be mailed out in July. Heirs of deceased members will be required to provide proof of heirship in the fall to determine who the legal heirs are and how much they will receive. Mrs. Sparks is advised to notify the Superintendent of any change of address to avoid delays in receiving the check. Mrs. Sparks responds with a letter thanking Carl Albert for the information and seeking further guidance on how to file claims for her deceased mother and brother.
