Title: Inquiry About Choctaw and Chickasaw Nations Payments, 1949-05-28
Item — Box: DP 6, Folder: 72
Identifier: CAC_CC_001_4_6_72_0015
Mrs. Lynch wrote to Congressman Carl Albert asking about the payment to the Choctaw and Chickasaw Nations for the sale of their coal lands. She inquired if payments would be sent to the children of deceased members. Congressman Albert explained that proof of heirship notices would be sent out by the Indian Office, and payments would be distributed to the legal heirs. He advised Mrs. Lynch to write to the Superintendent of the Five Civilized Tribes Agency to provide the names of her deceased kin. Payments to living members would be made first, followed by heirs. Congressman Albert offered to assist further if needed.
