Creek Tribal Judgment Funds: A Call for Reorganization and Fair Distribution, 1978-05-03

 Item — Box: 30, Folder: 29
Identifier: CAC_CC_003_2_30_29_0041
Allen Harjo expresses his concerns about the pending Creek Judgment Plan and the distribution of Creek Tribal Judgment Funds in a letter to Senator Dewey Bartlett. He argues that the funds should not be distributed until the Creek tribe has had the opportunity to re-organize and establish a National Council. Harjo believes that taking away these funds without allowing the tribe to express their views will further diminish their faith in the government. He hopes that his criticism is accepted for constructive purposes. Senator Bartlett's legislative assistant, Hazel Albert, acknowledges Harjo's concerns and expresses hope for the establishment of the Creek National Council.
