Mrs. Louis J. Hayes expresses her disapproval of the rumor that the government may invite the Russian astronaut Yuri Gagarin to visit the United States. She questions the validity of Gagarin's flight and believes that American pride should be in Commander Shepard instead. Senator Kerr responds, stating that he shares Mrs. Hayes' sentiments and doubts that the government would extend such an invitation. He thanks her for sharing her views.
