Scope and Contents
Original Correspondence from the Chairman of the Tulsa County Conservation District, Mr. J. O. Holman to Congressman James R. Jones regarding the United States Department of Agriculture's decision to not establish USDA Service Centers in every county in Oklahoma. The Tulsa County Conservation District Members and Leaders voted unanimously at their meeting that a burden would be placed on rural people who rely heavily on agriculture in their communities if the USDA did not establish Service Centers in every county in Oklahoma. In Congressman Jones' response letter, he informed Chairman Holman of H.R. 13858, which at the time of the Congressman's response was pending before the Department Operations Subcommittee of the House Agricultural Committee. H.R. 13858 would require that a Service Center be established to consolidate agricultural programs in each county where program offices are now located.
