F.R. Abbott, an Attorney-at-Law from Idabel, Oklahoma, has written to Honorable Wilburn Cartwright advocating for the building of a dam on Mountain Fork River in McCurtain County as part of the Federal Works Program. Cartwright, who is the Chairman of the Committee on Roads in the House of Representatives, responds that he is willing to help if he can be of service to the people of McCurtain County. He mentions feeling hesitant about getting involved in county affairs due to past experiences. Cartwright's office clerk informs Abbott that Cartwright is out of town but will address the matter upon his return.
