Inquiry Regarding Choctaw and Chickasaw Tribal Payments, 1949-10-04

 Item — Box: 6, Folder: 73
Identifier: CAC_CC_001_4_6_73_0002
Mr. John M. Pearce is seeking information regarding per capita payments being made to members of the Choctaw and Chickasaw tribes for the sale of their coal and asphalt lands. He is unsure if he, as a descendant of a white man married to an Indian woman, is eligible for these payments. Congressman Carl Albert advises him to contact the Superintendent of the Five Civilized Tribes Indian Agency in Muskogee, Oklahoma to request proof of heirship and determine eligibility for the payments. It may take up to two years to process all claims.
