Update on Payment to Choctaw and Chickasaw Indians, 1949-08-01
Item — Box: 6, Folder: 75
Identifier: CAC_CC_001_4_6_75_0004
The letter is a response from Congressman Carl Albert to Mr. John Denton regarding the payment to the Choctaw and Chickasaw Indians for the sale of their lands to the government. Albert explains that the process is being worked on by eight people and that it takes time to send out forms; make payrolls; and forward them for payment. Albert suggests that Denton write to the Superintendent to request an application form if he has not received one. Denton responds with gratitude for Alberts letter and expresses concern about not receiving the payment yet; as he has been ill and in need of financial assistance. Denton asks for help in getting the payment.
