Mrs. Cleo Wallace received a response from Carl Albert, a congressman, regarding the payment to the Choctaws and Chickasaws for the sale of their coal and asphalt lands to the government. The letter assures that payments to enrolled members will begin that month and checks will be sent out from the Five Civilized Tribes Agency. Carl Albert expresses his satisfaction that the old debt is finally being paid and offers further assistance if needed. A follow-up letter from Wallace requests payment by July 15.
