Mrs. Lorena Scott Griffin received a response from Carl Albert, M.C. regarding her inquiry about payment to the Choctaw and Chickasaw Indians for coal lands sold to the government. The government has appropriated $8,500,000 for these lands, and per capita payments for enrolled members will be around $300 or more. The checks will be sent out by the office of the Superintendent of the Five Civilized Tribes Agency in Muskogee, Oklahoma. It is important for enrolled members to provide their current mailing address to avoid delays in receiving payment. Proof of heirship notices will be sent out to the heirs of deceased members once all living members have been paid. Mrs. Griffin is advised to provide her tribe, roll number, and address to the Agency in Muskogee. Carl Albert assures Mrs. Griffin that he is available for further assistance if needed.
