The Superintendent of Schools in Chickasha, Oklahoma, wrote to Senator Robert S. Kerr requesting funding for a shelter program and a weather observatory and tornado tracking station in the area. The Weather Bureau responded, stating that the Chickasha area is covered by weather surveillance radar and warning plans are in place for severe storms. They are also looking into the possibility of establishing a station in Chickasha. Senator Kerr informed the Superintendent that it may take some time for these projects to be completed due to funding and legislative processes.
