Major General Leslie R. Groves, former producer of atomic bombs, issued a statement denying reports that he sought to discredit the United States Atomic Energy Commission. He emphasized his support for civilian control of atomic energy and recalled his testimony in favor of the Atomic Energy Act of 1946. Reports of friction between Groves and the commission during the appointment of David E. Lilienthal were unconfirmed.
