Elmer Thomas thanks Elder J. T. Sandlin for his letter and explains his reasoning for suggesting Mr. Farley for Vice President, despite objections to his religious beliefs. Thomas believes that in times of war, the focus should be on uniting Americans and choosing strong leaders to confront threats such as communism. He values Sandlin's opinions and is open to further discussion on the matter.
