Miss Ray King wrote to Senator Fred R. Harris regarding the firing of Mr. W.H. Beaver from Carter Seminary in Ardmore, Oklahoma for using corporal punishment. The U.S. Department of the Interior confirmed that Mr. Beaver was suspended for five days and then reassigned to a janitor position at Eufaula School. Miss King protested the decision, stating that corporal punishment can be justified in certain cases. Senator Harris promised to look into the matter and provide a report.
