In November 1971, the Coalition of Indian Controlled School Boards traveled to Washington, D.C. to address issues with funding and legal obstacles facing Indian controlled schools. They met with government officials and presented a position paper outlining their demands. The trip included meetings with BIA officials and congressional aides, with some progress made in addressing the Coalition's concerns.
