 File — Box: 226, Folder: 16
Identifier: CAC_CC_026_1_226_16_008
H. F. V. Wilson, the Director of the Human Relations Program at Ardmore Junior & Senior High Schools in Oklahoma, wrote to Senator Fred R. Harris seeking assistance in providing transportation for Indian students from Carter Seminary to participate in school activities. The U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare responded that such activities could be included in a plan for the elimination of racial isolation under proposed bills. The Bureau of Indian Affairs also acknowledged the issue and was looking into providing transportation funds. Wilson emphasized the importance of ensuring that all students, including those from the Seminary, have equal opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities to prevent trouble and dropouts.
