Senator Fred R. Harris expresses concern about the lack of Indian doctors in the United States and praises Harvard Medical School for its efforts to increase minority representation in the medical field. Harvard Medical School Dean, Dr. Robert H. Ebert, acknowledges the importance of providing opportunities for Native American and other minority students to join the medical profession and offers places to four Native American applicants. The Health Careers Summer Program is highlighted as a way to increase academic preparation for minority students interested in pursuing health-related professions. Financial support for the program is requested to expand efforts in supporting minority applicants.
