Mrs. Vanda Halford from Houston, Texas wrote to Senator Fred R. Harris inquiring about financial assistance for her daughter's education. Senator Harris contacted the Bureau of Indian Affairs to look into the matter and provided Mrs. Halford with information on scholarships and financial aid available for Indian youth. The Inter-Tribal Council of the Five Civilized Tribes also opposed an amendment to Senate Bill 659 and requested Senator Harris to consider their stance. Senator Harris assured them of his careful consideration and willingness to assist.
